Teaching Experience
1997-Present Teach Broadcast TV News for IUPUI. Students attend classes at WISH-TV. During the course, students learn to shoot, write and edit television news stories. The station's newsroom computers are used for much of the writing.
1997-Present Chair of the NPPA's Airborne TV Seminar - day long workshops conducted across the nation for TV news photographers and reporters.
1997-Present Chair of National Press Photographers Association's Team StoryTelling Workshop - an intensive, week long advanced workshop for experienced TV news photographers and reporters.
Philosophy of teaching
I believe students become good TV storytellers through hands on experience. During class, students learn to shoot, write and edit TV packages. They also work with WISH-TV's newsroom computer system and hear from many guest speakers from the Indianapolis television news business.
Recent Publications
I regularly write stories on subjects of interest to TV photographers which are published in News Photographer, the national publication of the National Press Photographers Association's (NPPA) magazine.
